The things people touch often become what we use to conjure memories of them.
I vividly remember my mom calling me four years ago to tell me Dalton Rogers had passed away. I did not know Dalton, but I have prayed for this family many times since then. Surprisingly, on my second day working for Serenity Foundation, Kid’s Cup put this locker at the front door of the Hope Chest Thrift Shop. I knew right then I had found a true treasure. I could not believe that I had found Dalton’s locker from Dublin High School with his signature. After two months of contemplating what to do, De Thomas, with Vines Pest Control, stopped by the Hope Chest. De talks to Mr. Dahl, Dalton’s Father, daily, and he was ecstatic to get me in touch with him, which led to Kip Evan, Dalton’s friend, replacing the back of the locker with a new piece of wood and cutting out the signature to be framed. It was with great honor to finally, three months later, present this board to the Rogers family. Dalton’s framed signature is on display in his family’s living room, and his locker is going in his nephew’s bedroom for many years to come.
